2Weeks2MakeIt is a competition ran by South Yorkshire Filmmakers every year where filmmakers and local musician get the opportunity to collaborate with each other to make a music video within 2 weeks.
Entering the competition, with my collaborative friend Heather Newton, we saw this as a great opportunity to further develop our filmmaking skills as this would be a brand new experience getting to produce/director a music video.
Before the competition got started a small opening ceremony was held where we got to officially meet the band who were a local Sheffield Americana band called Fir. Made up of four close friends who shared a passion for music, wanted to have their first official music video made for an upcoming song and saw this as a great opportunity to work alongside a filmmaker to achieve their goal.
Discussing with the band the themes and tones they wanted in the video, they felt completely comfortable with us coming up with an idea to share with them. After a short time, we arranged another meeting and pitch them our idea which they were straightaway onboard with it.
The premise follows a wondering man becomes transfixed after setting his eyes upon an angelic figure roaming the streets of Sheffield.
Shot across two days, we arranged to shoot the bands footage first, using the location where the band held their rehearsals and recordings was at one of the artists home. The second part of the shoot took place across various locations in the city centre of Sheffield working with our actors.
At the end of the competition, an award ceremony was held at the Showroom Cinema where all 22 music videos were screen and then judged.
